Cruise Itinerary - Ports of Calls
Blue-ice glaciers and gold-rush boomtowns, towering totem poles and deep, rocky fjords. On your Celebrity cruisetour to Alaska, you'll discover a world of natural wonders and colorful cultures, with visits to fascinating ports of call and special shore excursions.

Day 7, Aug 31.  Seward
                                                                                                 Depart 8:00 PM
This tiny fishing village is surrounded by the Alaska Maritime National Refuge, the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, the Chugach National Forest  & Kenai Fjords National Park. Seabirds, otters, black bears, moose & other wildlife thrive in this natural sanctuary (optional tours).

Day 8, Sep 1.  Hubbard Glacier (Cruising)       Cruising             Arrive 2:00 PM              Depart 6:00 PM
T
he most spectacular sight and event I have ever seen!  In 1986, Hubbard Glacier made history when it began a dramatic and sudden advance, surging forward at a rate of up to 130 feet a day and earning the name "Galloping Glacier." The moving wall of ice eventually stretched all the Iway across the water to Gilberts Point, blocking off Russell Fjord to create a temporary freshwater lake. Eventually, water pressure broke through the Ice dam, but today Hubbard Glacier continues to advance, "calving" icebergs into the water. Its home, Yakutat Bay, is also a habitat for wildlife of all kinds.

Day 9, Sep 2.  Juneau                                      Docked             Arrive 9:00 AM              Depart 9:00 PM
I really enjoyed the tramway, Red Dog Saloon, and the Mendenhall Glacier!  Nestled between mountains and sea, Alaska's capital city has a rustic charm that's a blend of cosmopolitan and frontier styles. The Alaska State Museum includes a Native clan house and birch-bark canoe, gold rush memorabilia, and Russian Orthodox relics. Just outside of town is Mendenhall Glacier, which you can view by air or water or a choice of exciting shore excursions. Other adventures include whale watching and nature walks, scenic bike rides and sport fishing--even an authentic Alaskan salmon bake. (optional tours)

Day 10, Sep 3.  Skagway                                    Docked              Arrive 7:00 AM              Depart 8:30 PM
Some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen!  The frontier spirit is alive and well in the gold-rush town of Skagway, the northernmost point of Alaska's Inside Passage. Relive the city's boomtown past in lively saloons and rousing dance hall revues and on vintage street car tours. Board the historic White Pass and Yukon Railway or take the Klondike summit drive and pan for gold (optional tours).

Day 11, Sep 4.  Icy Strait Point
Tendered            Arrive 7:00 AM              Depart 4:00 PM
In 2004, 2006, & 2007, we saw numerous Humpback and Killer Whales, Sea Lions, & Otters.  Frequently spotting Humpback Whales is one of the many draws to the Icy Straits. This body of water, which connects to and from the Gulf 'of Alaska, allows you to see plenty of coastal marine life, rare land mammals, as well as glaciers and icebergs.

Day 12, Sep 5.  Ketchikan                                   Docked              Arrive 9:00 AM              Depart 6:00 PM
Ancestral home of Alaska's Tlingit Indians, this rustic waterfront village has the World's largest collection of totem poles. You can see this ancient art form and learn the meaning behind totem pole imagery at the Saxman Native Village and Totem Bight and the Totem Heritage Center (optional tours).

Day 13, Sep 6.  Inside Passage (Cruising)           Cruising
Threading along the magnificent coast of Canada and Alaska, the Inside Passage offers spectacular close-up views of rain forests, sparkling glaciers, steep-walled fjords and snow-capped mountains. Watch closely for whales, sea lions, bears and other wildlife--the Inside Passage is home to more than 100 species of mammals.

Day 14, Sep 7.  Vancouver, British Columbia      Docked                Arrive 7:00 AM
From its sparkling skyline to picturesque vistas of Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains, Vancouver is exquisite. In the historic Gastown district, explore the crooked, cobblestone alleys filled with galleries, shops and eateries (optional tours).
